The Central Military Commission
 

  According to the Constitution, the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China directs the armed forces of the country. The Central Military Commission is composed of the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman and members. The Chairman of the Central Military Commission is elected by the NPC; the choice of other members of the Commission is decided by the NPC upon nomination by the Chairman of the Commission. While the NPC is not in session, the NPC Standing Committee shall decided on the choice of other members of the Central Military Commission upon nomination by the Chairman of the Commission. The NPC has the power to remove from office the Chairman and other members of the Central Military Commission.

   

  Under the Constitution, the term of office of the Central Military Commission is five years, the same as that of the NPC. The Chairman of the Central Military Commission assumes overall responsibility for the work of the Central Military Commission. The Chairman of the Central Military Commission shall be responsible to the NPC, or to the NPC Standing Committee while the NPC is not in session.
